The CRAFT Research Center is directed towards investigating the archaeological origins and evolution of human technology over the past three million years. A primary aim is to explore the adaptive significance of technology in the human past in order to understand its role in shaping the past, present, and future human condition. Top priorities for CRAFT include research (archaeological field work and analysis, experimental archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, and primate studies), the training of graduate and undergraduate students, and the education of the general public. To date, graduate training has included students from Africa, the Middle East, and China.
