The Eppley Institute is dedicated to meeting the needs of park, recreation, and public land organizations. The mission of the Institute is to partner with recreation, park, and public land organizations to enhance access, choice, and quality of natural, cultural, and recreational experiences. As a unit of Indiana University's Department of Recreation and Park Administration, the Eppley Institute combines academic expertise with real-world experience to design practical solutions that work. Named in honor of Dr. Garrett G. Eppley, a pioneer in recreation education and the former chair of Indiana University's Department of Recreation and Park Administration, the Institute continues the important technical and research services that Dr. Eppley excelled in when he started with Indiana University in 1946. The Eppley Institute is a unique organization that strives to provide personal, custom service for each of its partners. Each agency that chooses to work with the Institute has a different culture and a different set of expectations, business practices, and goals. The Eppley Institute is dedicated to inquiry, responsiveness, and excellence to meet each partner's individual needs.
