Bridge Funding Program
Objective: To provide modest financial support for faculty research and scholarship during times when externally funded research programsare between grant cycles. Funds will be used to maintain research programs at a level adequate to ensure continuing viability.
Award: The award amount will be commensurate with minimal funding levels to sustain a viable program and will be based on a review of the funding history and potential for future funding. Duplicate submissions for other internal funding programs are not permitted. Funds will be awarded in January, March, June, September, and November.

Objective: Provide support for research expenses for faculty of distinguished rank.
Award: $3,000 grant to distinguished faculty; $1,500 to distinguished faculty emeriti.

Distinguished Faculty Research Lecture
Objective: The Distinguished Faculty Research Lecture, co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, is an annual event designed to recognize the research achievements of an IU Bloomington faculty member whose research makes important contributions to society.
Award: $3,000

Objective: Support research and creative activity with modest subsidy at critical times.
Award: $500 maximum
Deadline: No deadline.Faculty Research Support Program (FRSP)
Objective: Support the general development, expansion or enhancement of faculty research and creative activity. Focus on research contributions to increasing academic, intellectual and scholarly activity and on potential for attracting future external research funding.

Objective: The Indiana METACyt Initiative seeks broad scale collaborative proposals that will change the way science is done at Indiana University Bloomington.

Full Proposals: To be determinedInstitute for Digital Arts and Humanities Fellowship
Objective: To help Indiana University faculty members expand digital arts and humanities research and creative activity. Fellows will work collaboratively with a team of specialists to enhance their understanding of digital tools, to prepare prototypes for major projects, and to develop and submit grant proposals for external funding.
Award: During the two-year fellowship period, faculty will receive one course release per semester for two semesters and participate in an ongoing workshop with a team of specialists and other faculty fellows.
Deadline: October 15, 2009New Frontiers in the Arts and Humanities Program
Objective: Help faculty members to expand their work into disciplinary or interdisciplinary frontiers that promise new insights into the human condition or pursue innovative directions in artistic creativity.
Award: Four components

Outstanding Junior Faculty Awards
Sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research
Objective: Sponsored by VPFAA and OVPR, designed to assist untenured, tenure-track faculty to enhance their research programs prior to tenure. Given to junior faculty members who show promise of achieving great distinction as scholars or artists, to recognize the achievements of those who have devoted considerable time to the teaching and service missions and developing a nationally recognized research program.
Award: Total award amount per recipient: $14,500.

Research Leave Supplement Program
Objective: Support faculty and librarians who receive prestigious fellowships.
Award: Based on salary.

Objective: Support research and creative activity at critical times for senior researchers and scholars who continue to pursue active research interests and keep close ties with their departments.
Award: $2,000 bi-annually.

(previously Summer Faculty Fellowship)
Objective: To foster new collaborative research and creative activities involving faculty members and IU centers, institutes, and museums. Funds may be used to support IUB tenured or tenure-track faculty members and research scientists/scholars to work full-time on specific collaborative research or creative activities with IU’s centers, institutes, or museums during the summer.
